Global Atlantic is seeking a candidate to lead all aspects of the accounting and reporting for SPVs (Special Purpose Vehicles) that hold investments in real estate, consumer loans, transportation, and renewable energy, collectively referred to as our portfolio of strategic alternative investments.  This individual will manage a team of investment accounting professionals at various levels, partner with the Investment Office Asset Origination team to support the execution and ongoing analysis of these strategic alternative investments and related structures, manage and oversee TPAs for these asset classes and ensure proper consolidations and intercompany eliminations related to the SPVs that hold these strategic alternative assets. The individual would be required to bridge the accounting guidance to ensure that the operational set up and the accounting producing the financial statements adheres to GAAP.  

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead a team responsible for the accounting and reconciliations of SPVs that hold strategic alternative investments as defined above; including account reconciliations, quarterly 10Q/K investment disclosures and other investment accounting activities to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Review month end closing procedures, including analytical reviews of SPV financial statements, income statement and balance sheet to support the accuracy of our financial statements.
  • Management and coordination of the accounting consolidations and intercompany eliminations of all SPV structures.
  • Main point of contact for the investment office on complex transactions and structures for investments within these strategic asset classes, defining the related accounting and operational aspects for these in collaboration with the accounting policy team to ensure execution of these results adheres to GAAP.
  • Lead and develop the process for any new investments in these asset classes to integrate these into the reporting process ensuring the appropriate investment consolidations and eliminations across the various legal entities that hold these investments.
  • Proactively manage developments in GAAP accounting for these asset classes in collaboration with the accounting policy team.
  • Maintaining oversight of TPAs supporting these investments.
  • Responsible for enhancing and performing timely investment analytics to provide senior management results of investment performance at the right level of detail for the audience
  • Perform control functions in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404.
  • Perform frequent ad hoc analysis and assist with special projects, as requested.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.  
  • 12-15 years of relevant experience.  
  • Expert knowledge in accounting for real estate, loans, aviation, leases and renewable energy with a foundational understanding of the upstream processes and impacts to downstream accounting and reporting.
  • Experience with SPV investment structures including consolidations, eliminations and intercompany accounting for these
  • Insurance company Investment GAAP and Statutory reporting a plus.
  • Being prepared to get into the detail as needed and to develop/coach team members.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead multiple teams to deliver against tight deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex accounting to different stakeholders in the organization at all levels
  • Pro-active, detail oriented, deadline driven; possess excellent documentation and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to successfully handle close processes, competing priorities and multiple deliverables.

Various jurisdictions have passed pay transparency laws that require companies provide salary ranges for any positions for which they are accepting applications. Global Atlantic has offices in Atlanta, Batesville, Bermuda, Boston, Des Moines, Hartford, Indianapolis, and New York City. The base salary range posted below is inclusive of the lowest cost of living geography to the highest in which we have a Global Atlantic office. 

Global Atlantic’s base salary range is determined through an analysis of similar positions in the external labor market. Base pay is just one component of Global Atlantic’s total compensation package for employees and at times we hire outside the boundaries of the salary range. Other rewards may include annual cash bonuses, long-term incentives (equity), generous benefits (including immediate vesting on employee contributions to a 401(k), as well as a company match on your contributions), and sales incentives.  Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Compensation for our more senior positions have a larger component of short-term cash bonus and long-term incentives.  The base salary range for this role is $149,023 to $283,853.
