As the Investments Business Finance Officer (BFO), you will join Global Atlantic’s Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team in New York, providing dedicated finance support to our Investment Office. The person in this role will understand the entire Investments value-chain, including asset origination, operations and accounting, and will advocate for the Finance-related needs of the Investments office. The Investments BFO will foster close collaboration with other areas of the organization and will ensure the financial implications of business decisions on Investment metrics are well understood and communicated.  

Key areas of focus for this role include:  

Deliver Management Reporting 

  • Deliver timely, intuitive and actionable management reporting, including comparison of actuals to expected results 
  • Produce metrics and leading KPIs to explain earnings, expenses and capital usage 
  • Develop analyses that link business actions, such as portfolio re-allocations, to financial results 
  • Liaise with Investment Accounting and Accounting Policy to gain deep understanding of expected accounting treatment, particularly for complex asset classes 

Provide Strategic Support  

  • Support strategic decision making through provision of financial models and what-if scenario analysis 
  • Provide thought leadership as new capabilities are developed, such as enhancements to investment projections  
  • Help evaluate the financial implications of asset sales or restructurings 
  • Support the preparation of ad-hoc and recurring executive communications around financial performance of the business  

Drive Operational Efficiencies 

  • Identify opportunities for efficiencies and drive execution of process improvements to accelerate the financial close and provide valuable intra-quarter analyses 
  • Support cross-functional initiatives to provide investment data at appropriate level of granularity, using a replicable, automated and controlled environment 

Qualifications:

  • Very strong communication skills, with demonstrated ability to explain complex topics in a concise and easy-to-understand manner
  • Proven ability to build trusted cross-functional relationships  
  • Insurance company accounting experience, including US GAAP and US and Bermuda statutory regimes and accounting for complex instruments 
  • Deep quantitative and financial modeling capabilities 
  • Ability to prioritize and work under pressure 
  • Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, or a related field 
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience. Experience in insurance, consulting, or investment banking is preferred.

Various jurisdictions have passed pay transparency laws that require companies provide salary ranges for any positions for which they are accepting applications. Global Atlantic has offices in Atlanta, Batesville, Bermuda, Boston, Des Moines, Hartford, Indianapolis, and New York City. The base salary range posted below is inclusive of the lowest cost of living geography to the highest in which we have a Global Atlantic office. 

Global Atlantic’s base salary range is determined through an analysis of similar positions in the external labor market. Base pay is just one component of Global Atlantic’s total compensation package for employees and at times we hire outside the boundaries of the salary range. Other rewards may include annual cash bonuses, long-term incentives (equity), generous benefits (including immediate vesting on employee contributions to a 401(k), as well as a company match on your contributions), and sales incentives.  Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Compensation for our more senior positions have a larger component of short-term cash bonus and long-term incentives.  The base salary range for this role is $142,222.50 to $270,900.00
