The Finance Associate is a senior level accountant who will provide accounting oversight to accounting and reporting processes and supervise work of junior accountants.  The incumbent will support the company’s Institutional business segment by delivering accounting and control functions primarily related to capital management and regulatory reporting but will also support the Global Atlantic Bermuda subsidiaries’ and sidecars’ internal reporting needs. The Associate will review and provide quality assurance to ensure timely and accurate capital and regulatory reporting to corporate and business unit management and the entity Board of Directors and external stakeholders.  The Associate will partner with the Bermuda CFO, CAO, Controllers in various business initiatives including development of new capital analyses, automation projects, process improvements, and project management of major cross-functional execution.  In addition to possessing the specific qualifications cited below, all candidates must work well within a complex, fast-paced, fluid environment, and possess a proven ability to design and lead operational and accounting change. All candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Planning and coordination across source functions for capital measurement and sizing of proposed actions
  • Engaging in and providing control reviews of key inputs to BSCR, especially asset values and asset risk charges to ensure the accuracy of the legal entities’ results developed.
  • Preparation of Quarterly Management and Board reporting materials
  • Management reporting of Bermuda capital results and positioning
  • Complete Bermuda regulatory requests: prescribed disclosures and schedules, surveys, ad hoc queries.
  • Deliver regulatory reporting on US GAAP, US Statutory, Bermuda Statutory and Bermuda Economic balance sheet bases for multiple reinsurers as well as buildout and execution of control processes.
  • Design and manage delivery of automated reports and processes. Develop and enhance controls.
  • Establish strong partnership with Actuarial and Risk to analyze capital performance and assess opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance strongly preferred. CPA / CA or equivalent professional credential or demonstrated experience with multiple accounting bases required.
  • Significant (re)insurance experience required with 6+ years of relevant analytical work experience required and recent experience in life insurance required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of US GAAP or US Statutory accounting required.
  • Robust experience with Bermuda Economic Balance Sheet and BSCR required.  Significant experience with more sophisticated books of business a strong plus.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to influence others and communicate across all areas of the company
  • Ability to manage competing priorities with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Proven success delivering automation solutions
  • Familiarity with Essbase, Hyperion, W Desk, Tableau, and other reporting and analysis applications a plus

Various jurisdictions have passed pay transparency laws that require companies provide salary ranges for any positions for which they are accepting applications. Global Atlantic has offices in Atlanta, Batesville, Bermuda, Boston, Des Moines, Hartford, Indianapolis, and New York City. The base salary range posted below is inclusive of the lowest cost of living geography to the highest in which we have a Global Atlantic office. 

Global Atlantic’s base salary range is determined through an analysis of similar positions in the external labor market. Base pay is just one component of Global Atlantic’s total compensation package for employees and at times we hire outside the boundaries of the salary range. Other rewards may include annual cash bonuses, long-term incentives (equity), generous benefits (including immediate vesting on employee contributions to a 401(k), as well as a company match on your contributions), and sales incentives.  Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Compensation for our more senior positions have a larger component of short-term cash bonus and long-term incentives.  The base salary range for this role is $92,000 to $176,000
