POSITION OVERVIEW

The Associate will primarily support the Head, Regulatory and Government Affairs (RGA) but may be assigned projects that need assistance as part of the broader LCR team. In addition to working with Head, RGA, & VP, who is a remote employee, this individual will work primarily with members of the LCR team based in New York as well as senior LCR management in the Company’s other offices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Company’s Head, RGA and other internal stakeholders in identifying and tracking legal and regulatory developments that may impact the Company or its businesses.
  • Assist in developing and executing the Company’s regulatory strategy, including interacting with the Company’s governmental affairs consultants, trade association liaisons, attending industry calls, engaging with state insurance regulators/NAIC, Capitol Hill staff, as well as federal government agencies
  • Act as secretary for GA’s RGA Committee and prepare all materials, meeting minutes, ect
  • Assist in managing RGA interns & Lattice Fellows, in coordination with Head, RGA
  • Prepare materials, deck presentations, talking points in support of a range of deliverables, including advocacy and regulatory meetings, internal presentations, firmwide strategic initiatives and executive & board-level meetings
  • Assist with preparation of the RGA’s budget, develop and implement processes to track spending and perform quarterly reforecasting
  • Develop a broad knowledge of the Company’s business including its retail sales, reinsurance, and investment functions in order to assess and communicate the impact of current and proposed legal, compliance and regulatory/legislative developments

QUALIFICATIONS & NECESSARY SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in political science, government, business, or a related field
  • 2+ years of relevant professional experience in a fast-moving and dynamic environment, either at a financial services company or a strategic or business development role at a law firm, industry group or roles in the US state or federal government
  • Strong research, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Willing to take on research and special projects
  • Ability to work independently to design and complete projects as well as collaborate with and support senior management
  • Work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong judgment and ability to manage competing priorities and multiple projects
  • Strong Word, PowerPoint & Excel skills. Experience with Tableau or other data manipulation skills preferred
  • Knowledge of financial services industry - U.S. life and annuity industry preferred
  • Travel to NAIC meetings and cover events in DC from time to time, as directed by Head of RGA

Global Atlantic’s base salary range is determined through an analysis of similar positions in the external labor market. Base pay is just one component of Global Atlantic’s total compensation package for employees and at times we hire outside the boundaries of the salary range. Other rewards may include annual cash bonuses, long-term incentives (equity), generous benefits (including immediate vesting on employee contributions to a 401(k)), as well as a company match on your contributions), and sales incentives.  Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Compensation for our more senior positions have a larger component of short-term cash bonus and long-term incentives.  The base salary range for this role is $104,00 to $138,000
