We have a unique opportunity for an Associate to join the Office of the CFO team supporting the Finance COO. The person in this role will regularly engage with the Finance Leadership team to shape and drive the Finance department towards its long-term strategy. This role will be located in our New York office.


  • Leadership Support:
    • Support the Chief Finance Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Finance with the management of the Company’s 240-person Finance Department. Work primarily with the CFO’s leadership team located in New York and Boston, as well as key functional leaders throughout the Finance complex.
    • Develop a broad knowledge of the Company’s businesses and the key Finance clients, including retail sales, reinsurance, and the investment office.
    • Complete ad-hoc analyses and presentations for senior management.
  • Strategic Planning / Expense Management:
    • Manage the budget for Finance, including annual planning, monthly and quarterly analysis of expense actuals vs. budget, quarterly reforecasting, allocation management, and headcount/comp analytics.
    • Build out and manage processes to track strategic business objectives for the Finance organization, including templates, reporting, metrics, and ongoing reviews
    • Deliver Quarterly Organizational Principles reports and scorecard to CFO and annual organizational health checks to Finance leadership team
    • Lead delivery of Finance’s intern program, from program strategy, sizing, model, and logistics to final full-time placement
  • Projects:
    • Support organization with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement, including major initiatives such as: Finance data strategy, driving compliance with the FASB’s new Long Duration Targeted Improvements (LDTI) accounting standard; organizational analysis and reorganizations; Investment Accounting re-platforming; and automation of manual processes
    • Partner closely with the Finance Center of Excellence to drive efficiency and effectiveness across the Finance organization.
    • Partner with key stakeholders in HR (organizational design and strategy, recruiting, compensation and benefits, and headcount reporting), IT (data strategy, software ecosystem and expenses, general support), and Project Management Office (key strategic projects and process improvements).
    • Drive and lead execution of organizational strategic projects, including peer benchmarking studies


  • Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Economics, Finance, or a related field, plus four (4) years of experience in a strategic or business development role at a consulting firm, accounting firm, financial services company or similar capacity.
  • All candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior work experience must include two 2+ years:
    • Working independently to design and complete projects and communicating findings to senior audiences using written work product a s well as verbal presentations.
    • Using PowerPoint to create high-quality internal and stakeholder reports, with a level of detail and length that is appropriate to the audience.
    • Using Excel to analyze large datasets
