Global Atlantic Enterprise Data organization is seeking a senior leader (VP) to head Data Governance. The individual will be accountable for establishing and steering an action and result oriented Data Governance function. The role requires an individual with strong data governance leadership experience and someone who has executive level communication skills, ability to influence behaviors, and can foster a data culture. The role will provide required leadership to ensure high quality governed data is being made available from GA’s Enterprise Data Hub (EDH) and EDH is the single point of data consumption across the enterprise. Experience in Insurance or Financial industry highly desirable.


  • Head the Data Governance and Stewardship function at GA, chairs the Data Governance council, partners across GA’s line of business for (pro)active (Data) engagement, is informed on upcoming business data initiatives/needs, and ensures all data for business consumption is sourced from EDH data ecosystem
  • Maintains a bi-directional channel with stewards to ensure business data consumption is in compliance per DG guidelines and enforces controls on EDH data supply chain to build business trust in data
  • Is the Data Governance Custodian across the enterprise and ensures EDH data ecosystem provisions high quality, timely, integrated data, and is the single version of truth for data consumption across the Enterprise
  • Establishes high trust in Enterprise Data Hub (EDH) by engaging stewards to identify required data controls and is the stakeholder to ensure the controls are implemented within EDH
  • Provides transparency across line of business stewards on control processes, data quality issue management, reconciliations, etc.
  • Steers timely business data issue management and resolutions that require active business input e.g. lines of business derivations and calculations across Risk, Finance, Actuary, etc.
  • Fosters a culture of shared data ownership and accountability across lines of business and technology for Enterprise Data Assets/EDH
  • Prioritizes on establishing governed data consumption processes and actively engages with business consumers via data stewards to identify and eliminate point to point data feeds and simplify the data supply chain eco-system at GA
  • Ensures policies, procedures, and standards necessary for the functioning of data governance structure exist, are established, and complied with
  • Collaborates across lines of business to drive data ownership, monitor/audit data quality and controls, and the adoption of EDH to enable business data solutions
  • Establishes Enterprise Data Glossary, Lineage, Metadata management functions
  • Leads training sessions with the data stewards to engage and educate them on EDH, Data Policies, Architecture Standards, and Data Management Processes
  • Runs monthly data governance council meetings, publishes meeting minutes, ensures representation across GA’s business lines. Steers data escalations to executives as needed.
  • Collaborates with GA’s Risk, Regulatory, and compliance functions to ensure data is governed and submissions to our regulators meet required data standards and expectations. Ensures all regulatory and compliance data related matters requiring attention are timely addressed.
  • Partners with legal, compliance, and CISO to establish standards, data security protocols, and best practices.


  • An undergraduate degree, graduate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years Data Management experience with focus in establishing and running a maturing Data Governance Program at a mid or large sized organization
  • Extensive experience with Data Governance capabilities like issue management and resolutions, metrics, data glossary, lineage, metadata management, policies, procedures, controls, etc.
  • Experience with cloud technology, meta, master, and reference data.
  • Experience with vendor and third party administrators/data providers
  • Working knowledge of data tools and technologies such as Hadoop, Redshift, Tableau, Business Objects, SQL, and industry Data Governance tools e.g. Collibra
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Business focus and relationship building skills.
  • Professional presence to interact with all levels of management.
  • Insurance or Finance industry experience highly desirable
