Position Overview:

The Life and Preneed Technology Manager will oversee technology services related to the Life and Preneed business by ensuring efficient and effective technology operations. This role will be responsible for multiple third-party administrators (TPAs), oversee several direct reports, and build relationships with business partners to ensure stability, reliability, and maintainability of business applications.


  • Provide leadership and support to direct reports that enable them to be successful in their roles and grow within their domains
  • Manage TPA and Leadership periodic reviews against SLA and KPI deliverables
  • Review TPA metric against capacity and business value
  • Review recommendations from TPA groups around system optimization, risk mitigation and other continuous improvement efforts
  • Run budget management for Life and Preneed TPA’s, technology assets, and discretionary requests
  • Review and coordinate technology teams/assets against enterprise strategy and planning
  • Run/BAU project portfolio management
  • Create 3-5 year technology roadmap corresponding to IT roadmap and business vision
  • Backlog management and prioritization around run requirements
  • Handle vendor relationship duties as needed for all technology within the Life and Preneed spaces
  • Coordinate resources and ensure 24x7x365 coverage is available
  • Review and assess skillsets to ensure the teams are able to support the business and any new solutions or strategic shifts.
  • Maintain asset inventory
  • Manage business continuity strategy for disaster recovery planning and execution
  • Oversee coordination around audit requests
  • Coordinate and participate in DR tests (External TPA and Internal GA)
  • Build ROI cases for continuous improvement opportunities
  • Manage JIRA, Workfront and Incident tasks
  • Change Ticket review, approvals, and delegation
  • Respond to high-severity alerts for assets in their domain and representing them on critical calls
  • Own RCA process
  • Maintain assets in the CMDB
  • Maintain recertifications of Access Management
  • Maintain SOPs and asset documentation on Confluence and in SharePoint
  • Research and mitigate any security/risk vulnerabilities that have been identified
  • Partner with business leaders to understand how their teams are using the technology they have, what their goals and objectives are and whether or not technology can empower them to improve their processes further.
  • Assist in management of Software Development Lifecycle including requirements gathering, development, testing, release management, and maintenance
  • Engage with business partners to report (formally and informally) on technology strengths, weaknesses, successes and challenges on a regular basis.
  • Partner with Technology Delivery Managers and PMO to set appropriate resource plans, timelines, and expectations across discretionary opportunities
  • Assist in defining and governing appropriate technical standards and procedures



  • Undergraduate degree required. MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in technology with exposure to application development, engineering, IT architecture, change management, continuous improvement, security, and major transformations
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of demonstrated leadership experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Cultural awareness with excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Passion and drive for continuous improvement and transformational change, with a business owner mentality
  • Experience working with and directing TPAs
  • Experience with insurance and financial services preferred.
  • Experience using agile methodologies and leveraging DevOps principles
