Global Atlantic is seeking a detail-oriented & passionate Assistant Vice President to oversee People Operations to undertake a variety of People Ops systems and administrative duties. This role will report directly to our SVP of TA, People Ops & Employee Experience and be the key expert resource for onboarding & offboarding programs, i9 processes, immigration, audits, HR transaction/process control, and operations end-to-end. This position will be located in either our Hartford, CT, Boston, MA, or Des Moines, IA office. We have paid for and covered parking in both locations and free lunch, every day!

Key responsibilities

  • Raise the bar with consistent iteration and process improvement to all aspects of HR processes and system design. Be the expert in creating a seamless experience and improving through the art of possibility.           
  • With a strong focus on Employee Experience, partner closely with HR, Technology, Marketing, and our business to implement and maintain a new centralized HRIS system.
  • Lead to create and maintain the fair compliant practice HR process, documentation, and communication with security and risk in mind. This includes but is not limited to onboarding and offboarding, immigration processes, working with multiple country business structures and entities and leading a shared services model.
  • Own and evolve our people tech stack including HRIS, benefits, payroll (ADP), Talent Acquisition (Greenhouse) learning and performance management systems (SAP) to ensure integrated systems operate efficiently as our company continues to scale
  • Partner closely with our HRIS team to ensure that all HR systems issues and support make it through the backlog and are prioritized.
  • Establish audit and compliance procedures for HR with strong partnership with our internal audit team
  • Develop a successful and effective working relationship with Global Atlantic’s Finance and Risk teams to develop and drive HR process improvement and alignment
  • Build the People Ops team and develop an SLA framework for how that translates into a seamless experience for our employees in day-to-day inquiries as well as ad-hoc, sensitive matters with the utmost discretion and fairness
  • Ensure that all employee and contractor documentation is up to date and audit ready

Skills & Experience

  • 6+ years of experience with background in People/HR Operations including people tech systems, immigration, compliance, employee life-cycle, and rollout of operational programs
  • Experience mentoring and / or leading teams for at least 2 years.
  • Proactive and self-directed leader with prior experience building an operations function at a hyper-growth company
  • Deep knowledge of legal and employment compliance matters as they relate to internal audit and controls, employee-related policies and procedures
  • Strong service orientation with a high drive to provide excellent employee experiences
  • Player-coach mentality, able to lead and concurrently execute and dig into the details
  • Demonstrate a bias towards action in driving continuous improvement through project/program management
  • Outstanding judgement, a high standard of ethics, and able to handle sensitive and confidential information
