POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Data Support Leader provides day-to-day management for various data operations functions, including overall management and oversight of our Enterprise Data Hub (EDH) which is an enterprise data repository and single source truth for investments, insurance, finance, and other enterprise data. EDH is an eco-system which includes various ETL jobs, data transformations, data stores, business Intelligence, reports, API services and downstream data feeds. The role will be required to collaborate and support the delivery teams with work allocation & project tracking, vendor management, incidents management and release management

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical support for data production cycles jobs and troubleshoots issues
  • Plan and support month end, quarter end and year end critical jobs
  • Develop relations with business community and the service providers
  • Arrange, assign, adjust and monitor shifts to have apt coverage for production cycles and business support
  • Continue to refine and improve existing production support procedures
  • Discuss all production support aspects with application development team.
  • Interact with infrastructure, cloud management, development, QA, DBA and application teams.
  • Provide regular status reports to management on data flow status, data quality status and other metrics.
  • Collaborate with management to improve and customize reports related to production support.
  • Prioritize issues/incidents raised and resolve it accordingly
  • Coordinate escalation and resolution of major data issues
  • Report promptly to management and business partners regarding critical outages until resolution.
  • Manage offshore, outsourced resources to an SLA and execution of critical situations.
  • Allocate resources to resolve problems/incidents.
  • Define and manage scope, budget, schedule, priorities, and risk throughout the multiple projects.
  • End-to-end Incident resolution and request management.
  • Responsible to support process improvements, identifying process/system bottlenecks and opportunities for improvements
  • Responsible to improve the stability and performance of the BI systems/platforms.
  • Define/own process to transition new data flows application into support from development
  • Prioritize workload, provide timely and accurate resolutions.
  • Perform root cause analysis of issues
  • Provide effective and inspiring day-to-day leadership presence
  • Guide your team in communication and troubleshooting best practices
  • Manage high impacting incidents, working with internal teams to drive an incident resolution, whilst maintaining good client communications
  • Work smarter, not harder to, re-engineer business processes when there are efficiencies to be had and introduce automation for easily repeatable processes
  • Set clear objectives, evaluate progress and develop a high-performance culture with focus on collaboration, service excellence and ownership for resolving client issues
  • Ensure working practices are well defined and operational with minimal disruption using technology to improve efficiency as appropriate

 

QUALIFICATION:

  • 10+ years’ experience in information technology in the data space
  • 3+ years’ experience in a technical operations role
  • Degree level in relevant subject – Computer Science or Mathematics or related discipline
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail in work the ability to remain calm and flexible in the face of increased demands, changing priorities and uncertain environment
  • Working knowledge of SQL, Java, Scala, Spark, Python & Hadoop
  • Comfortable working with data and have incredible attention to detail -- you can find a needle in a (data) haystack
  • Technical troubleshooting skills and the ability to trace issues to their source through collaboration with incident and engineering teams
  • Good Knowledge of Data Warehouse architecture and Data Integration concepts.
  • Managing, organizing, and prioritizing multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Comfortable working with all project stakeholders (business users, architects, project managers, business analysts, developers, test analysts, production support team)
  • Incident, problem, release and change management experience
  • Real passion for troubleshooting, critical thinking, and teamwork especially in the fast paced financial services industry
  • Proven management of production service teams, strategy development and execution, delegation, supervision and associated people skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to maintain a professional demeanor when handling complex time sensitive issues
  • Good time and task management - as an individual and for the team
