Position Summary:

Global Atlantic is seeking a candidate to manage the investment accounting and reporting for derivatives across our various insurance subsidiaries, which entails ensuring the accuracy of the investment results across various hedging strategies, preparing the monthly ledger reconciliations on a GAAP and STAT basis to validate the accuracy of the investment results in our subledgers, preparing the required quarterly and annual GAAP and NAIC Investment schedules and disclosures, and supporting the investment office in the execution of various hedging strategies. This position will also support continued process enhancements related to achieving an accelerated close that produces timely, accurate and complete investment accounting results in an efficient manner on a GAAP and STAT basis.  All candidates must, in addition to possessing the specific qualifications cited below, work well within a complex, fast-paced, fluid environment, and strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for managing the monthly investment reconciliation between the ledger and subledger for various insurance subsidiaries on a GAAP and STAT basis; for derivatives.
  • Responsible for investment office support for new hedging strategies.
  • Responsible for the preparation of quarterly and annual 10Q/K disclosures for derivatives.
  • Responsible for the preparation of quarterly and annual NAIC schedules for derivatives.
  • Perform control functions in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 and NAIC Model Audit Rule.
  • Execute on process re-design as a result of the increase in our hedging strategies.
  • Perform frequent ad hoc analysis and assist with special projects, as requested.

Candidate Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.  CPA, MBA, CFA preferred.
  • 12-15 years of relevant experience.  
  • Public Accounting experience a plus.
  • Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of GAAP and Statutory accounting principles related to derivatives.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with investment accounting systems (Clearwater) helpful. 
  • Experience in successful process redesign from system enhancements and conversion
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Excel; data warehouse design or support a plus.
  • Pro-active, detail oriented, deadline driven; possess excellent documentation and analysis skills.
  • Results oriented, flexible, self-motivated, and able to work in a team environment with limited direct supervision.
  • Solid written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead a team with the ability to successfully handle competing priorities and multiple deliverables.
