Summary: As a Data Governance Associate, you will work closely with many teams across our company on implementation and oversight of enterprise data management and governance policy, goals, standards, practices, processes and change management. You will work closely with Business and IT leadership to improve the quality and value of enterprise data assets, respond to regulatory requirements as well as support the strategic requirements of the organization.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide support in establishing an enterprise wide data governance framework, with a focus on governing data as an enterprise asset, addressing regulatory requirement, and protection of sensitive data through organization behavior, policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, and related tools.
  • Actively collaborate with business data stewards to implement various data projects and initiatives
  • Support the mission and goals of the cross-functional Data Governance Council.
  • Serve as a liaison between Business and Technology to ensure that data related business requirements for governing data are clearly defined, communicated and well understood and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning.
  • Gain understanding of the Regulatory and Legal landscape and needs and drive the implementation of the data governance roadmap around the regulatory book of work.
  • Develop & maintain inventory of the enterprise information maps, including authoritative systems, owners
  • Support the definition of enterprise data within the Business Glossary by obtaining input from stakeholders
  • Update business metadata in the Business Glossary as part of requirements gathering for new data elements being added to systems and other Data Governance projects
  • Institute and facilitate governance of the organization's business and technical metadata as well as data quality routines and frameworks.


  • Undergraduate degree required preferably in STEM, advanced degree a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Technology and/or Data Management in the Financial Services or Insurance industry or Management Consulting
  • Familiarity with data related regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues.
  • Experience with sensitive data and addressing laws around data privacy and security (e.g. GDPR, CCPA, FINRA, NY DFS) is a plus
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated experience in cross collaborating with multiple teams for change management, communications planning and execution.
  • Ability to effectively challenge all levels of an organization and offer value-add solutions to meet data governance objectives. Strong experience in stakeholder engagement and people and relationships management is desired.
  • Collaborative team player who is detailed oriented and focused on solution quality and execution.
  • Ability to work independently with some level of ambiguity and juggle multiple demands.
  • Strong Excel skills including experience with Pivot Tables, Index/Match and macros
