Position Overview

Reporting into our SVP of Human Resources, the AVP, Director of Employee Relations will lead the function in both strategy and deliver on the required actions to ensure an exceptional employee relations program that is inclusive and supportive.


  • Responsible for leading the execution of employee relations processes and practices, providing regular advice, consultation and guidance to managers and employees, delivering and ensuring appropriate responses to any related employment issues that arise.
  • This position is accountable for ensuring that all investigations are completed thoroughly and completely within the Center of Expertise's (COE) service level agreements (SLAs) and is responsible for interpreting analytics looking for trends and issues.
  • Solid sense of accountability, high quality judgment and sound decision making.
  • Close partnership with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion team to ensure that all ER practices and metrics are aligned with our overall DE&I strategy with no adverse impacts.
  • Effective case management of people related issues such as: complex ER issues, disciplinary actions, legal issues (harassment, discrimination, workplace accommodations, etc.), policy interpretation/application and investigations.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, in ambiguous situations, and persevere over internal and external barriers to drive resolutions.
  • Build constructive relationships with critical stakeholders to share information and influence change.
  • Assist in the development Employee Relations related strategies that address issues and operational concerns that create a consultative relationship to allow the business unit to achieve operational goals and leadership success.
  • Collaborate and consult with various individuals and departments, establish and maintain effective working relationship with all levels of management, employees and Subject Matter Experts such as Legal, Internal Audit and Compliance and Directors of Talent Management as needed to coordinate investigation-related activities and determine outcome recommendations.
  • Provide key stakeholders with organizational perspective on Employee Relations themes, issues, strategies and changes to enhance overall effectiveness and ensure risk mitigation for the business unit and or/company wide.
  • Partners closely with HR Business Partners and conducts regular meetings with business unit leadership to ensure satisfaction with Center of Excellence deliverables.
  • Exercise strong analytical skills using data and anecdotes to develop persuasive narratives and recommendations. Strategically identify opportunities for improving ER policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates current and proposes new corporate wide policies and processes to ensure consistent understanding/execution within the COE and company.


  • Bachelors Degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field or equivalent education
  • 5+ years experience in providing professional level guidance to all levels of management on employee relations issues
  • Ability to partner and influence key stakeholders 
  • Six (6) years professional level experience in managing moderate to complex employee relations issues, investigations and writing
  • Six (6) years experience in providing guidance to all levels of management on employee relations issues.
  • Prior experience with managing hybrid, onsite and remote workforces


  • Ability to multi-task and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, in both written and verbal forms
  • Demonstrated ability to collect sensitive and confidential information and documentation from appropriate sources
  • Complete and maintain appropriate case file documentation to ensure a full picture of employee relations activity
  • Ability to handle confidential information and escalate when appropriate

  • Bermuda: Sponsor of a weekly feeding program operated by The Hamilton Seventh-Day Adventist Church
