Vice President, Credit Risk

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

Responsibilities of this role include development of a comprehensive credit risk modeling framework, including driving and overseeing the implementation of a new credit risk tool.  The successful candidate will be a key leader in the Risk team, ensuring appropriate models are in place to analyze and report on risk assets within the company’s investment portfolio.  This role will play a key role in reporting to senior management, both in terms of data-driven aggregation and top-down analysis. This role will be based in Global Atlantic’s New York City office.

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Implement a new credit risk tool, including building a strong partnership with IT to connect within the company’s existing infrastructure
  • Review existing investment risk models and refine them as appropriate on a periodic basis to ensure that they stay current all the time
  • Take a lead role in refining models and analytics in support of the various quarterly portfolio valuation and stress testing processes
  • Evaluate and implement vendor driven credit models, maintain them and make constant revisions to accommodate shifts in portfolio
  • Develop models for esoteric assets not supported by vendor
  • Stay on top of industry developments that would influence the assumptions used in credit models
  • Review correlation across the portfolio within macro scenarios and ensure the portfolio is stressed appropriately to inform risk appetite
  • Examine effectiveness of credit risk models by constant back-testing, recommend and implement revisions

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10-15 years of experience in investment credit risk or asset management
  • Proven experience in implementation and maintenance of credit risk models preferred
  • Ability to manage detailed tasks as well as participate in strategic discussions
  • Deep understanding of credit and structured products; additional illiquid asset experience is a plus
  • Advanced Degree and CFA preferred
  • Solid finance/ analytical/quantitative background including experience with building investment risk models
  • Skilled communicator with the ability to influence and motivate others
  • Proven problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to analyze complex information to identify the key issue/action and drive resolution
