The Analyst, Individual Markets Business Finance Office will support the Individual Markets (Retail Life and Annuity) Business Finance Office Financial Planning and Analysis Associate by providing analysis and other support in three key areas:

  • Quarterly Business Results. Drawing upon product, business and valuation knowledge, the Analyst will analyze quarterly business results, focusing on changes in the costs of liabilities.  The analysis will provide explanation as to the drivers of the business results and help create a ‘board-level’ talk track for senior leaders. The Analyst will deliver value to the business and improve financial performance by identifying opportunities to grow earnings, increase efficiency and optimize capital.
  • Annual and quarterly planning/forecasting. The Analyst will utilize analytical skills to drive efficiency in data collection and template population to support the mechanics of the vast FP&A financial models.  The Analyst will also apply business, product and valuation knowledge to help explain results of forecasts and projections.  Annual and quarterly forecasts are a significant undertaking and as such, the Analyst will be providing other ad hoc support as needed. In addition, the Analyst will work to streamline and automate the delivery of financial projections consolidating a set of complex inputs that enable transparency into performance and provide levers to the business to manage.
  • Data Gathering and Key Drivers for cyclical Mgmt. Reporting. The Analyst will help gather key pieces of information from business partners across the Life and Retirement (retail annuities) businesses to support earnings estimation process and other standard monthly reporting, including monthly finance review of key assumptions in operating plan, the development of a finance dashboard to be used in Life and Retirement leadership meetings and tracking several other pieces of mgmt. reporting to ensure consistency, efficient data collection process as well as overall efficient processes. 

In addition to these three recurring topics, the Analyst will utilize time in between to execute on focused improvement opportunities in process, furthering his/her/their understanding of the businesses and stay on track with business updates in our dynamic and fast-paced company.  The Analyst will also provide ad hoc support to Expense Management team and support the BFO in strategic projects to help profitably grow our businesses.


  • Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting, Finance or Actuarial Science
  • 1-2 years of relevant analytical work experience preferred
  • Independent worker, willing to roll their sleeves up and dive into large amounts of data to uncover the story the numbers are telling
  • Very strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent partnership and relationship building skills
  • Sharp analytical / quantitative and technical abilities; must be proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Can prioritize and execute tasks in a high pressure and fast-paced environment with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Resourcefulness in obtaining data when clean and or complete information is not available
  • Ability to conceptualize and analyze both problems and solutions and to effectively use a broad range of factors, assumptions, frameworks, and perspectives when solving problems
  • A team player with the ability to lead others outside of our team
