The Head of Strategic Sourcing will join Global Atlantic to partner with key client groups in identifying and supporting their third party service provider needs. They will serve as a thought leader for the company for the overall procurement process and maintain oversight of the vendor landscape for the organization, and continue to build and improve upon the existing Strategic Sourcing program.

Key responsibilities of the Strategic Sourcing team include the following: 

  • Manage and maintain relationships with key business leaders to understand and support their vendor needs
  • Oversee relationships with vendors, suppliers, and contractors who support the key business stakeholders, and, in some cases, the company; advise Vendor Relationship Owners in the business.  Facilitate the resolution of issues, ensure VROs are equipped to understand risk and responsibilities in their roles through frequent outreach, communication and training.
  • Develop strategies for leveraging suppliers of common goods or services for cost, service, and performance enhancements. Own and oversee the process from identification, negotiation of commercial terms and awarding of contracts, and vendor onboarding & subsequent diligence review.
  • Develop and manage requests for information or proposals. 
  • Maintain and, where needed, create standard processes for procurement of services and materials for the company. Drive ongoing assessment and reviews of current policies and procedures; identify, analyze, and document procurement work processes and redundancies; identify potential areas for improvement opportunities; make recommendations for process and governance improvements that align with the strategic initiatives of the company.
  • Partner with Legal on preferred terms for contracts, service orders, and purchase agreements for goods and services; escalate to Legal where needed
  • Work with managers and key partners to identify opportunities to leverage purchasing power.
  • Manage and oversee the vendor/contract database in Lockpath, including workflow and reporting, ensuring vendor details are kept current and insightful analytics are provided to partners and stakeholders.
  • Support work of TPSP Risk resource, including updating processes to include new risk areas, reporting, and balancing commercial interests with risk to the company thoughtfully and appropriately.
  • Partner with Financial Planning & Analytics and other teams within Finance to assess and analyze spend on Third Party Service Providers and track and report on savings delivered by the Sourcing function
  • Ensure new processes and partnerships with KKR and built and matured appropriately as the new GA/KKR relationship grows

As manager of the function, direct responsibilities will also include

  • Manage team of VM professionals, ensuring staffing is appropriate to meet business requirements, and providing oversight, feedback, and opportunities for growth for all team members.
  • Summarize and report on team accomplishments and key metrics, tracking progress via reports for senior leadership, developing metrics and KPIs to measure team or project success.
  • Act as a change management leader / influencer to mature process and ensure new processes and procedures are appropriately understood and adopted within the organization.
  • Stay current with developments in the industry and the third party management practice to ensure program matures as needed. 
  • Ensure team is able to prioritize incoming requests and manage their time and effort as efficiently as possible.


  • Bachelor’s degree and ten or more years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10-15 years related experience, including significant management experience and strength in team-building and optimizing performance
  • 5 years experiences in contract negotiation and supplier management;  experience implementing negotiation strategies and implementing cost saving initiatives preferred
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders (up to c-suite), ability to show via metrics and KRIs the impact and value of the team, and ability to advocate for process changes or resources using business case and data as a foundation  
  • Financial services including life and annuity industry experience preferred
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft software, specifically Powerpoint (excellent strategic deck skills) Excel data manipulation (pivot tables and charting tools)
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment and influence internal/external partners
  • Proven skills in risk and controls and commitment to proper documentation
  • Must be detail oriented and possess strong organization and time management skills to meet strict deadlines in a rapidly changing environment
  • Adaptable, can seamlessly maintain effort and focus when priorities change
  • Ability to prioritize in a fast-moving environment
  • Must be able to communicate effectively while interacting with a diverse internal and external customer base; maintaining confidentiality when necessary
  • Positive attitude even when faced with difficult obstacles, issues or challenges
  • Ability to travel as necessary – up to 25%
