Position Overview

Global Atlantic is seeking a Manager to join our operations organization within the Operations Risk and Controls team.  The team focuses on control execution and risk monitoring of operational activities associated with Global Atlantic’s various blocks of business serviced through Third Party Administrators (TPAs). 

Successful candidates will be experienced leaders in the retirement or life insurance industry with expertise in operations administration, risk mitigation, control execution and a proven track record of leading efficient teams. The candidate must demonstrate an ability to quickly assume responsibilities and a high level of analytical aptitude.  Functions include day to day management of critical operational controls, development of new monitoring activities or controls, and reporting.  In addition, this position requires effective communication with internal stakeholders including relationship managers, business owners and legal and compliance teams.  This position will be in our Des Moines, IA or Batesville, IN office and may require travel.  

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage a team of resources focused on the execution of day-to-day risk oversight and operations control functions overseeing insurance processing at GAFG’s TPAs
  • This includes supporting the personal development of the team, while also properly allocating resources to complete required objectives and escalating issues/risks to Senior Management
  • Ensure key controls are maintained within company thresholds including SOX and regulatory requirements
  • Develop and present metrics tracking that identify risks, control gaps, and team productivity
  • Prepare reports for external counterparties and senior management
  • Face off to and successfully communicate with multiple TPAs and external vendors
  • Effectively face-off to and support internal clients and work collaboratively with peers
  • Proactive analysis of control gaps, design solutions for new oversight or controls and identify potential cost savings
  • Contribute to internal budgeting and business planning processes

 Desired Attributes and Characteristics

  • Previous experience as a manager or team leader in an insurance or financial services environment
  • Experience with insurance administration and TPA infrastructure/management
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem solving and process improvement skill set
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and prioritize as necessary
  • Solid work ethic and a willingness to support the team as needed
  • Ambition and desire to succeed by delivering quality and effective results with minimal guidance


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7-10 years’ experience within insurance administration or financial services
  • 2-3 years’ experience within a management or team leader role
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing operations control and projects effectively and efficiently
  • High level knowledge of fixed and variable life insurance/annuity products
  • Experience with insurance administration systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
