Global Atlantic Financial Company Bermuda Limited invites applications to join the Bermuda Finance team as a Finance Analyst.  The Analyst will support the Bermuda reinsurance companies and the company’s Institutional business segment by delivering accounting and control functions.  A key goal for this role is to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial information and regulatory filings. The Analyst will support the broader team of financial reporting professionals; completing validation of information provided by company sources. The Analyst will monitor results and produce exception reports along with fluctuation analyses to ensure the team achieves the timeframes and reporting standards required by their stakeholders.  This is an extraordinary opportunity to grow with our dynamic and leading long-term, reinsurance business in Bermuda, gaining exposure to life and annuity business across several accounting and capital regimes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly and quarterly closing procedures, including tracking availability of information, reviewing variances in trend or expected levels, producing control and flash reports, preparing reconciliations
  • Investigate unanticipated variances, providing timely feedback to source areas to ensure that issues are addressed promptly within close timeframes
  • Participate in analytical review of performance of each of the Bermuda reinsurance legal entities. This will include flux analyses, actual to expected reviews and identification of key drivers
  • Support system enhancements and recommend process/system improvements that maximize operating efficiencies
  • Timely planning, preparation and compilation of quarterly and annual financial reports, footnotes and supporting documentation.
  • Assist the Senior Vice President, Finance, to establish new expense reporting and invoice reviews and expand monitoring
  • Coordinate the production of Financial Condition Reports, managing the inputs from the section owners, flagging emerging issues, and updating financial information
  • Research and monitor performance of certain of our funding agreements, reporting on actual to expected results and providing data to our pricing team.

Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 2+ years of relevant analytical work experience; recent experience in life insurance with reinsurance exposure preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of US GAAP or US Statutory accounting
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to influence others and communicate across all areas of the company
  • Ability to manage competing priorities with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Proven success delivering automation solutions highly desirable
  • Familiarity with Essbase, Hyperion, W Desk, Tableau, and other reporting and analysis applications a plus
